COCHRAN RECOVERY CENTER

COCHRAN RECOVERY CENTER is located in Building One of the Veteran's Home campus in Hastings, Minnesota and is a division of Dakota County Receiving Center, Inc. and Cochran Programs.

This inpatient treatment program serves both males and females over the age of 18 with cmemical dependency and mental health issues. This program is designed to assist in the patient's efforts to develop a chemical-free lifestyle and integration of a program for recovery.

We believe there are lfe issues which impact an idividual's long term recovery. To address these issues, an individualized treatment plan will be developed with the patient by our multi-disciplinary staff, using input from bio-psych/social assessment, medical history, treatment history, vocational/educational and spiritual needs.

Our programs are designed on a concept of cooperative living with a need for self-discipline and responsibility.

Cochran Center is licensed by the State of Minnesota, Department of Human Services and the Minnesota Department of Health.

PHILOSOPHY AND PROGRAM

Investment in change by patients is the best predictor of success. Patients with repeated treatment require more attention to engagement strategies and individualized treatment. Clearly communicated goals with patient agreement will be an objective. This goal agreement is critical to continued treatment and long-term success. Support systems outside of treatment are a must to support change. AA and NA are options, but there are others. Treatment must assist the individual with as many of their issues as possible, in a holistic manner.

METHAMPHETAMINE

Methamphetamine alters the molecular structure of the brain in ways that affect neurotransmitters. Dopamine and other neurotransmitters are diminished in the brain causing cognitive and behavioral changes in the user. Dopamine producing cells are diminished in number.

Because of the mental challenges it is necessary for chronic methamphetamine users to be treated at a slower pace and over a longer period of time than users of other substances. It is the goal of Cochran Recovery Center to provide treatment in a controlled setting using cognitive and behavioral methods to enable the chronic methamphetamine addict to develop thought and behavior patterns that will accomplish long-term abstinence.
