Cochran Recovery Program
COCHRAN RECOVERY CENTER is located in Building One of the Veteran's Home campus in Hastings, Minnesota and is a division of Dakota County Receiving Center, Inc. and Cochran Programs. This residential Mental Illness/Chemical Dependency (MI/CD) treatment program serves both men and women over the age of 18 with Substance Abuse Disorder and mental health issues. This program is designed to assist in the client's efforts to develop a chemical-free lifestyle, establish mental health and integrate a program for recovery into their daily living. We believe there are life issues which impact an individual's long term recovery. To address these issues, an individualized treatment plan will be developed with the client by our interdisciplinary staff, using input from a bio-psych/social assessment, medical history, treatment history, vocational/educational and family/support network input. The Cochran Recovery Program is licensed by the State of Minnesota, Department of Human Services and the Minnesota Department of Health as an MI/CD Program.
PHILOSOPHY AND PROGRAM Personal investment in change by clients is the best indicator of success. Clients with repeated treatment episodes require more engagement strategies and individualized service delivery. Our objective is to engage the client in their treatment by involving them in the treatment planning and goal setting. Support systems outside of treatment are critical to facilitate change. We believe A.A./N.A., Church, and Family are the most available support systems for ongoing abstinence. We use an interdisciplinary team approach to assist the client with their recovery issues. The Psychiatrist will be available for individual sessions and for medication management weekly. Each client will have 8 hours of group therapy a week, 5 hours of Dialectic Behavioral Therapy Skills Training, 4 hours of group education on substance use and mental health issues, one to one's, recreational therapy provided by an LADC, and A.A./N.A. Meetings. Clients may leave the unit with staff for therapeutic recreation, support groups, appointments and other activities that will enhance their treatment. Off-site team members (Social Workers, Probation Officers, etc) will receive weekly Treatment Plan Updates and be conferred with for the level of supervision each client requires. Clients may receive a pass for therapeutically beneficial off-campus needs on an individual basis and only with off-site team member input. Each clients length of stay is based on their individual needs. METHAMPHETAMINEMethamphetamine alters the molecular structure of the brain in ways that affect neurotransmitters. Dopamine and other neurotransmitters are diminished in the brain causing cognitive and behavioral changes in the user. Dopamine producing cells are diminished in number. Because of mental challenges, it is necessary for chronic methamphetamine users to be treated at a slower pace and over a longer period of time than users of other substances. It is the goal of Cochran Recovery Program to provide treatment in a controlled setting using DBT Skills Training, cognitive and behavioral methods to enable the chronic methamphetamine addict to develop thought and behavior patterns that will accomplish long-term abstinence. PRESCRIPTION DRUG ADDICTIONPrescription drug addiction has been shown to be more prevalent in our society then ever before believed. Some believe that Prescription Drug addiction is just another chemical addiction. We believe it has dynamics individual to it. The dilemma in this addiction occurs when seeking medical treatment in the future for legitimate reasons. The client risks a painful condition resulting in prescriptions of addictive substances and triggering a relapse. Cochran Recovery Program assists clients in planning how to prevent costly relapse by identifying relapse triggers, using an established network of support and accountability to their benefit.
